National Salvation Army Week is
May 14th-20th!
It is a time to say "Thank You!" to volunteers, donors, and beneficiaries who have helped The Salvation Army serve the Portland Metro area for over 125 years. National Salvation Army Week was first declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954. He noted: "Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of human brotherhood . . . Their work has been a constant reminder to us all that each of us is neighbor and kin to all Americans, giving freely of themselves, the men and women of The Salvation Army have won the respect of us all."
You can "Be A Shield" against homelessness, domestic violence, disasters, and hunger. You become a shield to parenting teens, kids, struggling families, veterans, and so much more. "Be A Shield" today and truly change someone's life for the better. More
Please join The Salvation Army on May 31st, 2012 at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center at 1:15pm to officially dedicate the NEW disaster services canteen More
In 2011, 700 volunteers gave over 74,000 hours of volunteer service in the Portland Metro areas! So during this National Salvation Army Week, The Salvation Army in Portland wants to say "thank you" to every person who has volunteered. More
